The Viridian Quartet was founded in 2008 by graduates of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. With an emphasis on performing, commissioning, promoting and recording modern music for string quartet, the group performs the width of the classical string quartet repertoire. The players collectively have diverse musical backgrounds, encompassing classical music, traditional, improvisation and pop - which is an advantage as composers now are drawing upon an increasingly wide range of influences.
